Internship Program Admissions

Program Fit

A strong fit with the practitioner-scholar model is required. The dissertation proposal must be accepted prior to the start of the internship. We are dedicated to cultural competence as our sites work with underserved communities. Applicants must show evidence of a desire to train within a community mental health setting, and we value previous experiences in related settings. Evidence of professionalism throughout the application materials is desired. Please provide three letters of recommendation, at least one from a professor or instructor and one from a field supervisor.

Minimum Criteria Used for Screening Applicants

All selection procedures will be conducted within the guidelines of APPIC. There is preference for 3.5 GPA or above and a minimum of 400 direct intervention hours, 30 assessment hours, and a minimum of 3 years in your graduate program prior to internship. We prefer graduate students who are flexible, team players, mature, and open to feedback. Students who can speak a second language, have experience with our target populations (e.g., rural, underserved, veterans, and/or first responders), and/or demonstrate strong interpersonal skills are also preferred in the selection process.
